Goal:               Participants will learn how to provide therapy for children and adolescents who are experiencing depression.

 

Objectives:   Participants will learn to diagnose childhood depression using DSM IV-TR criteria.

 

                         Participants will learn how to perform a differential diagnosis of depression in children and adolescents.

 

                         Participants will learn how to perform individual therapy for children and adolescents experiencing depression.

 

                         Participants will learn how to perform family therapy for children and adolescents experiencing depression.

Presenter:       George Haarman, Psy. D., LMFT is a licensed psychologist and marriage and family therapist in Louisville, Ky.  He

                          maintains a  private practice, consults with school systems, and has previously worked in youth detention

                          centers, group homes and juvenile probation.  He is an adjunct professor at Spalding University and has been a

                          part time instructor at Bellarmine University and Jefferson Community College.  He is an experienced

                          presenter on the topics of assessment and treatment planning with children and adolescents.
