Goal: Participants will learn how to diagnosis and plan treatment for mental disorders in children and adolescents using the DSM IV-TR.
Objectives: 1. Participants will learn how to identify symptoms of and diagnosis learning disorders and other developmental disorders in children.
2. Participants will learn how to identify symptoms of and diagnosis behavior disorders in children and adolescents.
3. Participants will learn how to construct treatment plans for children and adolescents using DSM IV classification system.
4. Participants will learn how to identify and diagnosis substance use disorders in children and adolescents.
Methods: Lecture, Case Presentation, Case Discussion, Group Treatment Planning Exercises
Presenter: George Haarman, Psy. D., LMFT is a licensed psychologist and marriage and family therapist in Louisville, Ky. He maintains a private practice, consults with school systems, and has previously worked in youth detention centers, group homes and juvenile probation. He is an adjunct professor at Spalding University and has been a part time instructor at Bellarmine University and Jefferson Community College. He is an experienced presenter on the topics of assessment and treatment planning with children and adolescents. |
