A graduate student, Lydia Gilmore, is doing her dissertation on an examination of our coaching program within our Executive MBA classes.

"The Most Promising New Frontier:  A Study of Coaching for Education Leaders" (On-Going)
The purpose of this development project is to adapt the Coles Coaching Program for business executives for high fidelity, effective use with education executives (school administrators) through a research collaborative composed of faculty from two colleges—the Bagwell College of Education and the Coles College of Business—at Kennesaw State University. The coaches trained in this adapted coaching program are an integral part of a newly designed, performance based Ed.S. Program (Leaders for Learning, 2008). This Program is designed to increase the administration/management/leadership effectiveness of existing school administrators (e.g., principals, assistant principals).  The Leaders for Learning (2008) is a hybrid Ed.S. program, which emphasizes local application of increased knowledge and skills by requiring that 55 percent of this program be conducted in schools and by requiring the candidate’s team—a certified and qualified coach, a mentor from the school district, and the KSU Supervisor—guide the candidate in this process.  The purpose will be achieved through the achievement of four goals--intervention development, demonstration of model fidelity, identification of the parameters under which the implementation of the program is most effective, and a pilot study addressing the feasibility of the intervention.
