Donna McDonald

Psychologist

Donna McDonald, Ph.D. (she/her) is a licensed psychologist who has worked as a therapist, educator, and program developer for over 25 years in both community and university settings. Dr. McDonald is currently the Associate Director of Training at the Counseling and Testing Center at the University of Akron.  In her role as Training Director, Dr. McDonald conducts both individual and group supervision as well as training seminars in clinical approaches, supervision, ethics, suicide and risk assessment, trauma-informed approaches, and cultural competence/cultural humility.  In addition, Dr. McDonald provides individual and group therapy.  As a therapist, she works from a generalist perspective using client centered transdiagnostic approaches.  She has expertise in working with trauma survivors and is trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS), Complex Trauma, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Emotion Focused approaches.  Dr. McDonald also presents at professional conferences, writes for publication, and has obtained grant funding.
