Dejaye Botkin

Dejaye Botkin is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed in New Jersey. Ms. Botkin has been working as a licensed psychotherapist since 2005 on the front lines of the behavioral health industry.

Ms. Botkin has combined experience from the Criminal Justice and Mental Health fields. With a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, she gained experience working with families in crisis in collaboration with the local police, probation, schools, and the Juvenile Justice Commission of New Jersey. In 2002 Ms. Botkin secured a grant with the Parsippany Police Department for youth in crisis. The mission of the program was to help at-risk youth use critical thinking skills to correct their behavior. She named the program the Juvenile Accountability Leadership Program (JALP). Ms. Botkin was the creator and director of the camp for three years while employed at the Parsippany Police Department. With a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, Ms. Botkin worked as the Director of Education for the Mental Health Association of Morris County, and in 2001, for the Department of Human Services in Morris County, specializing in Youth Services.  Over the years, Ms. Botkin has counseled patients in all settings, inpatient and outpatient programs, residential treatment centers, and schools.

From 2000 to 2015 Ms. Botkin taught as a substitute adjunct professor in the psychology department for Centenary University in New Jersey. 

In 2011 Ms. Botkin was hired to assess patients in the emergency room who were threating or attempting suicide. She completed a thorough assessment to determine if they would be safe in the community after discharge or needed a higher level of care such as inpatient treatment.

In 2017 Ms. Botkin moved to Arizona and Founded her private practice "Extinguishing Fear and Trauma", and "The Validation Center", a nonprofit wellness program in Scottsdale, Arizona.
